Windows: With the latest update to Microsoft's operating system, the company has unfortunately removed the ability to forget Wi-Fi networks so that you don't automatically connect to them. However, you can still do so from the command line.
To remove a profile you don't want your laptop automatically connecting to anymore, open up a command prompt as an administrator and perform the following:
- Enter
netsh wlan show profiles - Locate the name of the wireless profile you'd like to forget.
- Enter
Replacing the latter with the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to erase.netsh wlan delete profile name="[PROFILE NAME]"
You're done! You can still make Windows 8.1 forget a Wi-Fi network via the regular interface, but only if you're within range and fail to connect at least once. It's an unfortunate and cumbersome process, but at least the command line tool still works well.
